About / Our Vision
"No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:15–16
Why Wellspring
That's the difference between a medical mission and what we're building. A mission event can do real good in a single day — but a wellspring stays. It's there the next month, the next year, long after the team that first arrived has gone home.
The Problem We Saw
A few years ago, I took part in a medical mission in Bikol. By every normal measure, it was a success — hundreds of patients served, volunteers who gave generously, a day that felt meaningful.
But it was only that: an event. The patient with hypertension still had hypertension the following month. The diabetic patient still needed monitoring nobody was there to give. We went home. The community stayed exactly where it was.
That question has stayed with me since: what happens after we leave?
The Philippines already has many people doing incredible medical mission work — doctors, churches, missionaries, companies. The problem was never whether missions are happening. It's what happens after they end.
What We're Building Instead
Wellspring Mission exists to make the medical mission the beginning of something, not the end of it.
That means identifying local churches and missionaries before a mission ever happens. Understanding a community's real needs. Building referral pathways. Training local partners. Planning follow-up from day one — not as an afterthought.
The visiting medical team eventually leaves. The local church doesn't. Our job is to make sure the second thing is true before we celebrate the first.
We're intentionally Christ-centered. Medical care never depends on someone's religion or willingness to pray — we serve because Christ first loved us. But we don't hide why we serve, either. Our desire is physical healing and spiritual hope together, and ultimately to point people toward Christ.
Healthcare Is Where We're Starting — Not Where We Stop
We're beginning with healthcare because that's where the need — and the calling — is clearest to us right now. But the model we're building (sustainability, local ownership, continuity designed in from day one) isn't specific to medicine.
If God grows this the way we believe He can, we expect it to reach further than healthcare over time.
For now: the mission is healthcare, done with excellence, built to last.
Where We're Starting
We're not gathering a crowd first — we're looking for people who recognize their own calling in this: healthcare professionals, church partners, missionaries, companies, and anyone willing to bring whatever God has placed in their hands and put it to work for others.
Whether it's your skills, your time, your organization, or your resources — there's a place for it here.
